Valentines day is one of my favorite days of the year.  I decided to make a top FIVE list of the reasons I love this particular holiday:

5.  I have a major sweet tooth.  I love valentine candy, especially sour candy.

4.  Don't tell anyone, but I actually do like stuffed animals and chocolate. (cringe)

3.  Valentines day is even more fun when you have little children in the house.  I love the valentine cards I get from my children Tommy, Tanner, and Taylor.  They are definitely memory makers.

2.  Ok, I have to say it, "I have the most beautiful Valentine in the world!!  Gretchen makes Valentine's day worth the wait.

1.  (drum roll please) I have a relationship with the Jesus Christ, the Lover of our Soul.

One of my favorite worship songs is Jesus, Lover of my Soul.  It goes like this:

Jesus, lover of my soul
Jesus, I will never let You go
You've taken me from the miry clay
Set my feet upon the rock and now I know

I love You, I need You
Though my world may fall, I'll never let You go
My Savior, my closest friend
I will worship You until the very end

I love this song because it clearly communicates the depth of the relationship that Jesus longs to have with you and me.  Friendship is not enough. Being an acquaintance is unacceptable.  Guest, neighbor, associate, colleague, companion, contact.  None of these will do when it comes the level of relationship that the God of this universe seeks with you and me.  Jesus Christ is . . . . The LOVER of our Soul.  He came to Earth and died on the cross because He was in LOVE with our SOUL.  He sacrificed everything to be close to us.

Revelation 3:20 states:  "Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I'll come right in and sit down to supper with you."  (the Message) He is there knocking, waiting, ready to come in and develope that relationship that only comes from being our SOUL LOVER.

I love Valentine's day.  It reminds me that I actually am a part of TWO TRUE LOVE relationships:  My wife and Jesus, the Lover of my Soul.
